I wouldn’t go 44″.
Even 38″ is a lot.
An 85 Toyota pickup doesnt have near enough power without some major engine modifications, or crazy gearing to turn those wheels. It barely had 100HP NEW, not to mention 24 years of abuse on it.
Also you should upgrade the brakes..Its going to stop like crap.
Your going to need a pretty big lift and some crazy ass gearing to make it worthwhile.
With a 3″ lift you can just clear 33″ tires. So your going to need an 8-10 inch lift to fit 38″s. and a ridiculous 14-18″ lift to clear 44″s. Your also going to contribute to extreme instability of the vehicle. I dont even think anyone makes anywhere near that big. Most I found are 5″ or smaller.
A 85 Toyota truck is not meant for 33″+ Tires. It doesnt have the motor, gearing or braking system to do it safely.
