DODGE QUESTION!!! I already asked the question of why my ’95 Dodge 4×4 (360,auto) began misbehaving…..?

It did the same on the way to the repair shop to get scanned. The tech said the computer indicated that all systems were in order. It did say “lean air fuel ratio #1″. My fuel pressure was 36 lbs. Unfortunately, it didn’t act up the whole time it was in the garage. On the way there it sputtered, backfired, and had no power at all as I drove on the shoulder at 1/4 of a mile per hour. After I left, it drove fine the whole five miles home. The tech said I could bring it back Monday whe he had more time…which I am going to do. I’m just trying to get some answers to dwell on. The lean air/ful part has me wondering.

Okay, let’s start by defining terms.

Rich= More fuel,less air,less power (cylinder temp is lower due to fuel saturation), More emissions.
Lean=Less fuel,more air (Higher cylinder temp) Can be damaging to the engine if very lean.

Given your symptoms, I would say it’s a fuel problem. Fuel pressure is a little low, but not all that bad. I assume you have eliminated the fuel filter as a problem?

You might try a can of sea foam in the tank and see if it helps any, but don’t do that until after he looks at it Monday.

Also do a hard look at the distributor cap for any cracks.

But all you can really hope for is it to mess up while it’s in the shop so he can see it first hand.
