what chevy 350 will replace a v6 without much work?
I have a 1985 S-10 blazer 4X4 with a 2.8L V6 right now. Obviously replacing an engine will be a lot of work, and for sure a small block, but are there different types? how much work would it take to convert it, and what transmission will i need to use. and how much will all this cost. i dont need cost of labor. just the motor, tranny and any miscellanious parts. and will i need to reinforce the frame since im putting a bigger motor in or will that be fine? and if theres anything else i would need to replace. thanks
It isn’t all that hard to put a 350 in an S10. Lots of kits for this. It would be a lot easier if you start with an S10 with the 4.3. The 4.3 is basically a 350 with two cylinders lopped off. The 4.3 accessory drive will even fit the 350.
If you use a mild 350 making less than 350 horse power you won’t need to do anything with the frame.
Seeing you are starting with 2.8L S10 you will want to also replace the transmission, rear end, and drive shaft.
You can spend as little or as much as you want on a conversion like this. The engine can cost as little as $2000 or as much as $10,000. The transmission can cost as little as $1000 or as much as $5000. The differential can cost as little as $1000 or as much as $5000. You can keep the rear suspension relatively stock if you use a mild motor or spend as much as $5000 on a good 4 link suspension. Add another You can keep the exhaust simple and use stock manifolds and a single exhaust or spend $2000 on a custom set of headers and custom exhaust. If you keep it mild you could adapt a stock V8 truck radiator into the front end or if you go wild you will need to spend $1000+ for a racing radiator and electric fans.
So you could get away with only a few thousand dollars if you keep it mild, or spend $30,000+ for something wild. The size of your wallet is your only limit.

4X4 $28.98 America’s preeminent conceptual artist follows up fast on the heels of his spectacularly nuanced and blatantly jokey takes on pop culture as we know it: the Marlboro Man in Spiritual America, biker chicks in Girlfriends, and the artist’s own sanctum sanctorum in Adult Comedy Action Drama. Now, in perhaps his most accessible artist’s book to date (included is an interview with the artist by renowned cult photographer and filmmaker Larry Clark), Prince surveys his life’s work, and packs it all into a populist vehicle typifying the steam and virility of late 20th-century American culture-a Prince specialty. |
